#1, you do want to have a good amount of force in your blows, as there is physical contact between lightsabers. You want to push the other lightsaber out of the way. Yes, you can do that in the style of a rapier fight, and use the smaller cut/riposte/twist, but, if the other person is going for the larger/sweeping cuts/pushes, then you are at a disadvantage, unless you have specifically trained to counter that.
2 RAPIERS WERE ABLE TO CUT!!! There is a style of rapier combat called cut and thrust for a fucking reason. THEY HAD A SHARP EDGE THAT WOULD CUT THE FUCK OUT OF YOU!! It is a common misconception that rapiers were only used for "Pointy end goes in the other guy". That is not entirely true. They were used for cut and thrust and if you got hit with a good swing from one, it would seriously injure you.
3. There was a very famous lightsaber duelist in Star Wars Cannon who used a rapier style of fighting, and he was considered to be a master at it, but even at the time that he used it (End of the Old Republic Era - the time of the Clone Wars), it was considered to be archaic and he was fairly easily taken down once Anakin got pissed off - Count Doku.
4. He is also not taking into account the Force. Jedi used the Force to anticipate the actions of their opponents, and to protect themselves during a lightsaber duel.
A number of problems with this video.
