Um... My explanation is because George lucas is terrible at writing action scenes and Jedi powers. The evidence... Episodes 1 2 and 3. If these are masters of force .... We should see astronomical things. Even though I hated the last Jedi, Luke's powers were pretty badass. The foce awakens vision scene of Rey was badass.
